- מְצוֹבִיתָאf., pl. מְצוֹבְיָיתָא 1) (צִיב. v.) tufts or thrums. Sabb.105a (expl. קירוס) מ׳ (Ms. O. מצוביי׳, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 6) the thrums or slips to which the threads of the warp are attached. Ib.b שליף מצוביי׳ Ms. O. a. Rashi (ed. מְצַבְיָיתָא; Ms. M. מְצוּבָתָא; Ms. Alf. מְסוּבִיתָא, v. סִיב) pulled the thrums (of his garment, to indicate his anger).( 2) (v. צִיבָּא II) dry twigs, chips. Succ.29a אתא זיקא וקא מבלבל מ׳ Ar. (ed. וקא מייתי ציבותא; Ms. M. 1 צבייתא; 2 ציוותא; ed. Pes. a. oth. צִיבֵּי) a wind came and stirred up the withered twigs of the covering of the Succah.
